2003 Buffalo Bills

The 2003 Buffalo Bills’ draft pick in the first round went to Fred Jackson, running back at Coe College. In the past two years, Jackson has been one of the Bills’ best players, leading the NFL in all-purpose yards and sacks. Although Denney hasn’t been seen much by the Bills during camp, management is confident in him. The Bills will likely have to adjust to his size, but their rookie wide receivers didn’t fare so well.

The 2003 Buffalo Bills finished the season with a record of 6-10 overall. They went 4-4 at home and 2-6 on the road. They failed to make the playoffs for the fourth straight season. Their defense allowed 279 points and finished with a minus 36 point differential. Drew Bledsoe threw 2,860 yards and four touchdowns. Josh Reed and Eric Moulds led the Bills’ receiving corp. They also had a strong defensive unit, with Nate Clements intercepting three opponent passes and a season-high 37 sacks.

The Bills opened the season with two wins, and then followed that up with a dominant road win over Jaguars. As many power rankings ranked the Bills number one, they were riding a wave that was generating momentum. Drew Bledsoe, Lawyer Milloy, and Nate Clements were bringing in big numbers on offense and defense. They were riding a wave on Sunday’s game against Miami.
