Chris Brown and Allen Patrick added 159 rushing yards apiece and the OU defense was outstanding, holding Missouri to 17 points. The Sooners’ defense made an important play on a crucial drive in the second quarter when they intercepted Martin Rucker’s pass and returned it to Oklahoma at the 7-yard line. Bradford then completed his first TD pass to Jermaine Gresham, putting Oklahoma ahead by two touchdowns.

The Sooners opened conference play with an upset of the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder, Colorado on September 29. The conference and regular season were won by the Sooners in the Big 12 Championship Game, played on December 1. The Sooners won their fifth Big 12 Championship and their 41st overall conference title. The Sooners were granted an automatic berth in the Fiesta Bowl. They were defeated by West Virginia Mountaineers. The Sooners were 46 points ahead heading into the game.

Oklahoma faced a difficult schedule against Kansas State in 2007, but they won the Soone Magic in Waco. The Bears rallied and took a 28-3 lead in Oklahoma’s second quarter. But Josh Heupel and the Sooners’ defense held off Kansas State’s late drive to seal the victory. The Sooners defeated Texas Tech and put the Sooners back in contention for the national championship. Six touchdown passes were made by Mark Clayton in a 1990 game against the Aggies at Norman.

Aside from a win over Missouri, the Sooners also dominated the 2008 NFL Draft. Many players from Oklahoma were signed or drafted as undrafted free agents, in addition to Chris Brown signing autographs. The Oklahoma Sooners swept both Baylor and Oklahoma State in the 2007 Big 12 Championship. The Sooners also won two games in the Big 12 Tournament. They finished the season with an 11-1 record. They will open their Conference Championship Playoffs in mid August.

In the 1973 National Championship Game, Oklahoma led 17-7 before coming back to win at the last minute with a late field goal. At 24-10, Buffalo kicked an 41-yard field goal to make it three-point.

In the 2006 Big 12 championship, Oklahoma was ranked eighth in the nation when it faced Missouri. They scored 82 points on the Tigers and had 870 yards of total offense. They proved they could win close games and were a strong team. They beat Missouri despite having five turnovers in fourth quarter and converting a two-point conversion late in the game to win. The defense of the Sooners was one the most dangerous in the country, and it was the best that the Big 12 had seen in years.
