2008 Ravens Roster

The Ravens are set up to withstand the rigors of an NFL season with a stacked roster. The team also addressed key positions in the offseason and built up depth across all positions. If Baltimore’s roster can win the Super Bowl in 2008, they should have no problems doing so. If not, the Ravens can use the depth of their roster to try for the Lombardi Trophy.

James Proche, a rookie center, is one of those who has limited playing time. Proche was a strong contributor last year, but Duvernay took his starting job. A fourth-round pick, Aaron Crawford, has some potential at wide receiver. Jake Breeland, a rookie tight end, missed the majority of his rookie season due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, undrafted rookie cornerback Khalil Dorsey is in position to take his place once the veteran long snapper departs. Deon Cain, a veteran tight end, was also signed by the Ravens.

Another veteran is Chuck Clark, who started every game this season and ranked second on the team in tackles. Chris Board, a core special teamer and a player who improved last season, should be brought back by the Ravens. Tyus Bowser has emerged as a versatile wide receiver, and the aging Sam Koch is a solid backup. Derek Wolfe, if he isn’t signed, he’s a great safety option.

Ravens are also strong in the safety position. Chuck Clark and Earl Thomas both signed three-year contracts. DeShon Elliott has shown promise in recent offseasons. Both have their faults, but they can run the same offense. The incumbent Marshal Yanda has resigned, but the starting right guard position is still open. There are also several candidates for the starting job: Braden Bozeman and Ben Powers, D.J. Fluker is also in the running. Tyre Phillips, a new member of the unit, is also available for a starting position.

The offensive line is another key area for the Ravens. The team was loaded with talent, but there are also a few key players who could make or break the team. Joe Flacco, the starting quarterback, was drafted in the first round of 2008’s draft. The Ravens will likely seek a younger, more versatile option despite this. The team is still deciding on a new offensive line coach, and they’ll need to replace the aging D.J. Fluker, despite being a Pro Bowl-winning tackle.

Baltimore finished the 2007 season with a remarkable turnaround. The Ravens finished the 2007 season with a record 11-5 after being ranked last for four consecutive years. They defeated the Miami Dolphins and the Tennessee Titans in divisional round. They beat the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship. The New England Patriots eliminated them from the Super Bowl. And a record season for the Ravens was born.
