2011 Chargers Roster

The Chargers have an interesting list of players on their 2011 roster. Some of these players have never been to the NFL, but others have a good chance of making it on the team. Regardless of the players’ positions, the chargers need players who can provide depth and play multiple positions on defense. These players will play in all three phases of the game, and if you can identify them on the roster, they should be a strong addition.

The Steelers drafted Robinson, a six foot, 178-pound running back in the sixth round of last year’s draft. After noticing his speed, the Steelers drafted him in the sixth round. He will likely begin his career on special-teams. Robinson, a former undrafted free agent will begin the Steelers’ season on special teams. Robinson is a versatile player who has measurables that make them a good blocker. He has great potential for Steelers.

The Chargers finished the 2011 season with a record of 9-7. They tied with the Denver Broncos for the AFC West, but fell short in the tiebreaker. They missed the playoffs for the second consecutive year. Head coach Norv Turner was on his fifth season in San Diego and was rewarded with the 18th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. After the draft, the Chargers improved to 3-1.

Another intriguing player on the 2011 Chargers roster is defensive end Brandon Smith. At 6-foot-3, 250 pounds, he ran a 4.52 40 with a 37.5-inch vertical. While his tape shows he struggled to keep up against vertical routes, he did show flashes of talent on the field and should provide a solid backup at the position. In the end, though, he will have to put on weight and get stronger to be a successful NFL player.

While it was hard to pick a second rounder, Jones was a top-10 prospect when he entered the draft. He is a great runner and can make the quarterback throw interceptions. He would have been a first round pick. He had five interceptions and 13 pass breakups. 16 forced incompletions were also recorded. He also had nine career kickoff touchdowns. He also had 10 receptions of 109 yards and a touchdown during the pre-draft process.
