2011 Rams Roster Revealed

The 2011 Rams roster was teased for years, but the team finally released its final cut list Thursday. The team cut a number of players, including promising young defensive end George Selvie, undrafted free agents and veteran offensive linemen. Wide receiver Donnie Avery, meanwhile, was waived. Below is a breakdown of each player’s status on the team. This list is subject to change, but there are some bright spots.

In 2011, the Rams cut out two wide receivers. Brandon Gibson, a former Mizzou receiver, was one of those players. He played in just nine games and had a career high of 63 receptions. He signed with the New England Patriots in 2012 and spent one season there. He was traded to New Orleans Saints in 2013 for Akiem Hickeys. However, he hasn’t played down since the injury.

The Rams also made a cut at a cornerback. The Rams had four cornerbacks, but they couldn’t keep them. Brendan Daly, the Rams’ D-line coach, actually coached Josh Hull and Chris Long. Those two players are now New England’s starting cornerbacks. The Rams will likely use them to help bolster their defensive line. Despite the roster cuts, there are still questions about whether they can keep the same depth.

The 2011 St. Louis Rams finished fourth in the West Division of the National Football League. Despite finishing fourth in the West Division, the team failed to improve on their 2010 record. The team secured the second overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft after trading a sixth-round selection and a seventh-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Dean Nichols has built his men’s soccer program into a competitive program in New England. The Rams finished 6-0-1 in the MASCAC regular-season, won the post-season tournament, and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament. In 2008, Nichols’ Rams finished tied for fifth in NCAA Division III Tournament but were eliminated by penalty kicks. The Rams have won eight consecutive games with Nichols and have set many school records.
