A Look at Austin Reaves

Austin Reaves was born on May 29, 1998 in Newark, Arkansas. He is a white man and practices Christianity. He is the son and daughter of Brian Reaves, and Nicole Wilkett. Spencer, Austin’s older brother, was a basketball player at North Greenville and Central Missouri. Reaves was raised in Arkansas and attended Cedar Ridge High School. Reaves attended Wichita State University, before enrolling at University of Oklahoma.

The basketball star is the son of Brian Reaves and Nicole Wilkett. His parents were basketball fans, so they urged their son to practice harder in high school. Austin grew up in Arkansas and was the youngest of the three children. Austin was not selected in the NBA draft, but he signed a two-way contract to the Lakers. He was upgraded to a standard NBA contract in September. His debut came against the Phoenix Suns in October. He has been a valuable part of the Lakers’ roster since then and has impressed LeBron James as well as coach Frank Vogel.

Reaves was a basketball player growing up and became a professional basketball player at an early age. He played with his parents and older brother before joining his High School team. In his first two years, his team won back-to-back Class 2A state championships. He also scored 73 in a triple-overtime match against Forrest City High School. He attended Wichita State two years after graduating. Currently, he will attend a college in Oklahoma in 2019 and play professionally in 2021. His parents are not yet married. Reaves’ parents are involved in the sport. His mother, Nicole Wilkett played collegiate basketball at Arkansas State University. She finished tied for third on their all-time assists list. His father, Brian Reaves, played point guard for the Razorbacks and averaged 20 points per game. Austin also has an older brother, Bryant Reaves, who is a cattle farmer. His parents were supportive of Austin’s sports career and had a strong desire for him to reach his full potential.

Reaves was a redshirt junior and played for the Shockers his final two seasons. As a senior, he averaged 18.4 points per game and contributed 5.5 rebounds. He averaged 4.6 assists per match and was named to Big 12 All-Newcomer. His senior year was a breakout season for him as he led the Sooners to the NCAA Tournament. As a sophomore, he averaged 8.1 points per game and shot 42.5 percent from three-point range.

Austin Reaves signed a two-way contract with Los Angeles Lakers, earning his first NBA contract. While playing for the Lakers, he also became popular among fans and a prominent figure such as Lebron James. His athletic ability and social media presence have given him many platforms in the NBA. He now has over two million followers on Instagram and a standard contract for 2021.
