Early Life and Education

Adam Hurwitz was born to two deaf parents and learned both speech and sign language early on. After attending public schools, he eventually found his way to Gallaudet University – one of only three liberal arts universities worldwide designed specifically to serve deaf students.

The college boasts a long and distinguished history dating back to its establishment in 1864 as one of the premier deaf student institutions worldwide.

Hurwitz will assume his new duties with an eye toward maintaining Gallaudet University as an institution that welcomes deaf individuals while also increasing accessibility for hearing students and strengthening partnerships with D.C. area universities to offer courses not available here.

Professional Career

Adam has had the honor of representing some of the most injured individuals throughout New York and beyond as both a partner in his own firm and litigation manager of an esteemed general negligence practice. While developing his legal expertise as a trial lawyer, Adam takes great satisfaction from helping people recover. In addition to being an excellent legal mind, Adam is also an ardent family man with an open heart who always puts others before himself.

Adam is an experienced technologist with vast experience creating software products and services in multiple industries. As an Azure App Innovation Specialist for Microsoft Financial Services Organization, he stays abreast of the newest computing innovations; while in his personal life he loves both surfing and photography.

Achievement and Honors

Adam Hurwitz is an established artist exhibiting at galleries nationwide. His video loops serve as contemplative visual poems on memory and solitude.

He teaches painting at the Parsons School of Design and was honored to receive both a MacDowell Colony fellowship and Yaddo residency awards.

As well as his work in the arts, he is an exceptionally adept trial lawyer specializing in catastrophic injury litigation matters. Aside from possessing exceptional legal acumen, he also exhibits strong dedication and empathy toward those suffering serious injuries.

Samuel and Laura Hurwitz have raised five children, which include Eliza, Hannah, Micah, Rachael and Sarah as his siblings.

After graduating from Hamden Hall Country Day School and enrolling at Hunter College for two semesters before switching over to New School University – earning both his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees there – he decided on New School University as his university of choice and obtained both a bachelor’s and postgraduate degree there.

Once he completed his studies, Jake began his professional acting career by appearing on MTV sitcom The CollegeHumor Show and Myspace’s BFF series. Jake also released an on-demand comedy series with Amir Blumenfeld called Jake and Amir.
