Adam Janicki trains at the Clark Swim Club in Arlington, Virginia. Growing up competing alongside national-level teammates taught him teamwork and hard work – values Mary Frances Wagley French credits Adam with taking back with him to MIT.

The couple met as undergraduates at the University of Pennsylvania. The bride is currently working as an obstetrics and gynecology resident at Women and Infants Hospital of Providence in Rhode Island.

Early Life and Education

Adam Janicki hails from Stonington, CT and is the son of Cheryl M. Janicki and the late Ortwin N. Janicki (deceased). Adam earned his medical degree from Tufts and currently practices emergency medicine at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence.

Together they are active participants in environmental activism and education efforts.

He began life with an interest in politics and history; later enjoying traveling and canoeing/hiking as hobbies. W E B Du Bois’ publication of ‘The Souls of Black Folk’ made its debut during this time; its publication being considered groundbreaking work in sociology.

Professional Career

Adam Janicki serves as Financial Controller at Zumiez. His duties involve reviewing and interpreting accounting data, creating and implementing accounting policies and procedures, preparing financial statements and reports as well as budgeting/forecasting activities to establish sound financial health for his employer. According to his colleagues, Adam is hard working and dedicated team player.

Meg Sission French had only glowing praise for Adam Janicki this year at MIT. “Adam truly took charge of his training this year,” she praised, noting how “he spent much of the summer building the foundation that would set him up to compete come spring. Adam is an exceptional student and fan of our sport – always exploring small technical details while considering race strategy.”

Seven MIT athletes were recognized with first-time selection to the 2021-22 Academic All-America At-Large Team, including senior Laura Rosado from New Haven and junior Edenna Chen from Colorado Springs.

Achievement and Honors

Adam Janicki distinguished himself in his sophomore year by earning All-American recognition in both the 1,650 freestyle and 500 freestyle events, placing sixth in 400 IM and fourth in 200 freestyle respectively. Additionally, Adam majors in chemical and biomolecular engineering with an outstanding GPA of 3.98.

He is an accomplished musician as well, having released multiple albums under the Die Rote Erde moniker. Additionally, he works closely with Kacper Wojaczek on releasing improvised Kosmische music through their micro-netlabel Via Kosmische.

Majdecki-Janicki offers an outstanding music, like an open breath on an older film. Inspired by Yuri Morozov, his intelligent and resourceful electronics of these studios penetrate bands and official orchestras with ease, creating the memory of a burning film while inviting one in search of oneself in mirror-reflections.

Personal Life

Adam Janicki resides in Stonington, Conn. with his wife, Dr. Alisse Hauspurg. They met while graduating with honors from Penn. Dr. Hauspurg currently practices ob/gyn at Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island while Adam earned his medical degree at Tufts and plans on beginning emergency medicine residency soon at Rhode Island Hospital.

Mary Frances Wagley French, Head Coach for Men’s Swimming and Diving at MIT, describes Adam as a true student of his sport. According to Mary Frances, Adam loves discussing technical details, race strategy breakdown and working closely with teammates on training through each phase of season. Adam and his wife Ginny have two sons; Christopher currently swims at University of Virginia.

Net Worth

At present, Janicki’s estimated net worth stands between $1-5 Million. His main source of income comes from performing as an artist for various productions in Krakow; he currently resides there and is 56 years old.

Janicki’s company is an industry-leading supplier of engineered components used in land, sea, air and space applications such as yachts, fighter jets and wind energy blades. Their products can even be found on yachts themselves!

Janicki prefers to keep his personal life private. He is currently single without children. In his free time he enjoys attending Detroit Red Wings, Lions and Pistons games with friends as well as attending Scorpions concerts.
