The eastbound lanes and shoulders were shut down by an accident on Interstate 40, near the New Mexico border. The accident occurred near mile marker 292 – past the exit to Cross Road – and has left the area impassible. Officials request that motorists in the area exercise extra caution. The accident is still under investigation, but it is expected to involve a semi-truck and five cars.
