Keating owns and operates a 28-car auto dealership in Texas. His passion lies with cars and he boasts years of experience working in the automotive sector.

He competed in IMSA GTD class races at Daytona and Sebring with Porsches and Dodge Vipers respectively, driving for Team RSR Nissan Oreca finishing 15th overall and P15 in class at Le Mans 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016.

Early Life and Education

Benjamin Keating is a classical pianist studying under Professor Catherine Kautsky at Lawrence University. A versatile collaborator, Benjamin has performed in ensembles ranging from musical theater productions to Balinese gamelan orchestras.

Keating was born in Paddington, Australia. At age 15 he joined the Labor Youth Council and went on to become president of his state Labor Party branch where he ran campaigns in support of Jack Lang, his late father’s hero.

Kenneth Keating died November 26th 2006 when his vehicle fell off of a cliff during a road convoy in Kamdesh, Afghanistan and hit an outpost which later came to be known as Combat Outpost Keating in his honor. Survivors include Kenneth and Elizabeth Keating of Shapleigh Maine as well as his sister Jessica of Falmouth as well as several aunts and uncles. He is laid to rest at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home of Springvale Maine.

Professional Career

Keating, a third-generation automobile dealer from south Texas, owns several dealerships. His wife Kathleen gave him his first track day experience as a Christmas present twelve years ago – it captivated him instantly!

Joining the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2014, Miller drove an AMG Dodge Viper GTD to eight wins across three seasons – this year alongside co-drivers Jeroen Bleekemolen and Miller. Miller finished second overall in GTD standings.

Keating spends his time selling cars through his Port Lavaca Auto Group dealerships or racing Corvettes at legendary circuits around the world, racing exotic machinery in LMGTE Am class of World Endurance Championship. Additionally, this wiry Texan pilot also owns two helicopters for use as part of his professional endeavors.

Achievement and Honors

Keating earned the cum laude award from his faculty committee for his achievements in music as well as for engaging with coursework outside his major. This distinction honors students who demonstrate broad involvement within their university curriculum by taking multiple challenging courses of study and remaining academically engaged throughout.

Parents, sister and many family and friends contributed to establishing the scholarship fund in his name. Orlando Bloom played the part in The Outpost, Jake Tapper’s 2012 book about the Battle of Combat Outpost Keating in Kamdesh Afghanistan which took place on October 3, 2009.

Keating will take part in Riley Motorsports No. 33 Mercedes-AMG GT3, driving alongside professional co-driver Jeroen Bleekemolen to mark Wynn’s 80th anniversary at Daytona International Speedway this weekend during Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Personal Life

Ben Keating divides his time between managing 17 dealerships owned by his family across Texas and racing cars at iconic circuits across the globe – such as Le Mans 24 Hours or IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship events.

He has served on the boards of Trinity Episcopal School, Victoria Symphony Orchestra, Saint Joseph Catholic High School and Young Life. Additionally, he and Kathleen live in Victoria Texas.

Joshua and Sarah Keating were the parents of two children: Joshua and Sarah. Sarah is married to Cpt. Benjamin D. Keating who died tragically at Combat Outpost Kamdesh in Afghanistan in 2006. At 27 years old from Shapleigh Maine and Captain in the 71st Cavalry Regiment.
