Calum Chambers Targets Trophy After Helping Arsenal Reach FA Cup Final

Arsenal is in dire need of a goalkeeper and Calum Chambers could be the man to fill that role. The former midfielder has been at Arsenal for seven and a quarter years, but has been disappointingly ineffective under Mikel Arteta. After helping Arsenal to reach the FA Cup final in 2015, Chambers is now targeting a trophy.

Arsenal was in complete control of their possession after scoring the equalizer against Leeds United. While White was injured, Arsenal lacked the height to dominate the ball, and it took a long time for the ball to register. Referee Andre Marriner, however, glanced at his watch and gave Chambers the nod to open the scoring. After a short delay, Arsenal celebrated. Chambers ran over to Nicolas Jover, set-piece coach, and his goal was even more impressive. Jover had promised Chambers that he would score with his first touch after the goal.

Calum Chambers has recently signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Aston Villa. The 25-year-old had previously been with Southampton’s academy. He was promoted to the first squad during the 2012-13 season, and made three appearances with the Saints. In January 2022, he joined Aston Villa, where he spent seven seasons. He made 23 appearances for Arsenal in the 2014/15 season and helped the Gunners to third place in the league. Aston Villa will play Arsenal in the FA Cup final on 30th May.

Arsenal’s winning streak has been extended to eight games following Saturday’s win over Leeds United in FA Cup. With goals from Eddie Nketiah and Calum Chambers, Arsenal reached the EFL Cup quarter-finals with nine changes. The win built momentum in north London as the team looks to get back to the Champions League. They would be able to win the FA Cup if they beat Leeds United. And while a replay would not guarantee victory, it would certainly give them an edge.

Next week Leeds will face Norwich City and it is unlikely that the Yorkshire club will continue their attempt to draw level with Arsenal. Calum Chambers hasn’t scored since September, and Arteta said three different coaches told him to celebrate before he came on. Nketiah’s first touch, which was a sidefooted goalwards with an aerial effort, helped Arsenal win the game despite the injury.
