Founded in 1922, the Carolina League now features nine teams, including the Carolina Grizzlies. The league is comprised of Carolina, Fayetteville, and Myrtle Beach. Two of the league’s oldest ballparks, City Stadium and Bank of the James Stadium, were built in 1940. As recently as 1999, the Carolina League also welcomed the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. There is still plenty of room for growth in the Carolina League.
