He was a graduate of Valley Stream Central High School, Cornell University’s undergraduate college and medical school. Survived by his wife Marilyn and children Andrew, David, Russell as well as numerous nieces and nephews, he was also an active member of Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society, American Gleason Association (AGA) and TMA; additionally receiving John P McGovern Academy of Osserian Medicine’s Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award.

Soloway, a member of the Jubilate Circle, has published what appears to be translations of Greek poet Andreas Karavis’ works. Additionally, he has compiled an annotated guide to Karavis’ works for readers’ reference.
While working on Transparent, soloway started dating fellow transgender actor Myles Efron. Recently they shared a stage together at a Hammer Theatre performance and opened up about their affair.
