Davis Webb Replaces Baker Mayfield in Two Minutes

A three-star quarterback with multiple G5 offers went to the Big Ten Conference game Thursday night to replace the injured Baker Mayfield. Mayfield threw 367 yards in the first half. However, the Browns pulled Mayfield’s starter and replaced him by backup quarterback Davis Webb. After that, both quarterbacks failed to put up a good game. The Big Ten was still in it.

Then Mayfield went on to transfer to Oklahoma due to alleged scholarship issues and poor communication with his coach. Mayfield averaged 2.3 yards per attempted and had 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He began his college career as a walk-on quarterback and has continued to improve his skills. Although he was a standout in high school, he is still a highly sought after college quarterback.

Mayfield’s impressive stats earned him a Heisman Trophy during his junior year and was the most outstanding player in college football. His rookie season was so impressive, the Browns gave him the chance to regain his excitement and lead the team to the playoffs. Although Mayfield has won The Heisman Trophy, he has not been awarded the National Football League MVP Award. However, Mayfield has been a great addition to any NFL team. The Browns will have a new quarterback within two minutes if Mayfield leaves Tech.

Webb was a backup quarterback to Patrick Mahomes during Texas Tech’s 2013 season before Mayfield was signed by Cleveland Browns. Mahomes was a great gunslinger, and Webb was a solid backup for him. However, he quickly showed why he was recruited to Texas Tech in the first place. So far, Mayfield’s success in the NFL has been more impressive, but Webb is still an exciting quarterback.

The decision to transfer from Texas Tech to the University of Oklahoma was a tough one for both programs. Despite the uncertainty in the Big XII, the game is significant for both teams. After all, Mayfield was a true walk-on quarterback. While he never received a scholarship at Texas Tech, his performance was so good that he was named the Big 12 Conference’s Freshman Offensive Player of the Year. He also transferred to Oklahoma in time for the 2014 season.

After Mayfield’s Heisman Trophy win, Kingsbury became the offensive coordinator of Texas A&M. He coached Baker Mayfield and Davis Webb at Texas Tech. He also developed Patrick Mahomes and Johnny Manziel at Texas Tech. But despite his reputation, Kingsbury was fired after three consecutive losing seasons. Kingsbury’s success could be the reason that the Sooners were able to land Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield.
