The first racing car to be designed entirely by Ferrari itself was built for Alfa Romeo in 1937. In 1939 Ferrari severed the connection between his team and Alfa Romeo and founded Ferrari SpA, which did not manufacture its first racing cars until 1946, after the Second World War. The company’s cars soon became known for their remarkable speed and craftsmanship.
