George Kung

George Kung was an eminent scientist, author, artist and musician from Taiwan.

He is renowned for his work in comic books, such as Deadly Hands of Kung Fu, Sons of Tiger and Deathlok. Additionally, he contributed to Marvel’s Avengers series.

Early Life and Education

George Kung was an unlikely hero from China’s sweatshops, having graduated from one of the world’s premier universities. For his hard work and dedication, George was rewarded with accolades galore as well as a generous stipend and tenured faculty position at Yale. Additionally, his lifelong list of colleagues included people from various walks of life. Aside from being proud to represent Yale, George also enjoyed watching sports – he could recall several matches played on campus recently! Known affectionately by friends and colleagues alike as “The big ole man”, George had always put family first, never letting any setback interfere with his pursuit for bettering himself and those close to him – never letting anything stand in his path for improvement or success in life or relationships.

Professional Career

George Kung had a passion for photography, camping, fishing, hiking and traveling; he also loved reading books and engaging in conversation with both friends and strangers alike. Additionally, George became an engaged but not overly-righteous social activist.

Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, he served as professor of mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. In addition to teaching mathematics, he led tours that introduced hundreds of people to China’s many splendors.

He was a member of Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church and an advocate for social justice. On October 21st 2021, he passed away peacefully at St Michael’s Hospital in Stevens Point, WI surrounded by his loving wife Sonja; three sons; grandchildren Soren, Linden, and Ellie; as well as other memorial donations to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Portage County, Operation Bootstrap or Friends of Schmeekle Reserve.

George was a highly talented and esteemed artist whose works displayed a broad range of mediums. He was heavily influenced by the 1920s, an era marked by significant artistic developments as well as increased social consciousness.

George was born in Chongqing, China and immigrated to the United States at 18 to pursue an education in mathematics and physics. After marrying fellow mathematician Sonja Madsen, George moved to Stevens Point where he taught for many years until his retirement in 2001.

George was a long-time supporter of Schmeeckle Reserve, an active member of Frame Memorial Presbyterian Church and an enthusiastic champion for social justice. In October 2021 he passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Personal Life

George Hu was born and raised in New York City to parents of Taiwanese descent. As a member of the Wutang Chinese Martial Arts Institute, he learned martial arts at an early age.

He has also studied Chinese acupuncture and acupressure.

His career has seen him make numerous appearances in mainland China and Taiwan. He has acted in numerous dramas, gaining popularity across both countries.

He is married to Amal Alamuddin, a Lebanese-British lawyer. Together they have two children.
