Following his marriage, he moved to Iowa and began farming. He became a dedicated husband and father.

He was an active member of the American Legion and Lion’s Club, as well as Turlock Lodge #395 where he served as Master Mason. Additionally, he served as city commissioner in Fort Scott, Kansas and Director at Citizens National Bank; furthering his involvement in community affairs. An avid sportsman at heart, his hobbies included camping, jeeping and auto racing.
