God is a Very Present Help in Time of Trouble

Psalm 46 begins, “God is a very present help in times of trouble.” This is an affirmation of the writer’s unwavering faith in the Lord and his confidence in God’s power to overcome our enemies. Although he is afraid, the writer clings to God, believing that he will defeat all his enemies. The Psalm is one of the oldest written in the Bible, and many of its verses are still in use today.

“God is a very present help in times of trouble.” These words are encouraging and reassuring. It is true that we have many times faced challenges, and God has always been there to give us strength and comfort. The pathway through life is paved with difficult times. Life is full of challenges, from birth to schooling, to raising children to leaving home, and everything in between.
