Henry Banks started his professional life working at his family’s linen-weaving business, Hamilton Adams Imports Ltd, before later joining a major linen importing firm in New York City to expand business into North Ireland and Belgium.

After World War II, Banks returned to racing as Lindsey Hopkins’ midget car driver at outlaw and AAA events across Detroit and Michigan. Although he crashed his opening race of the season, Banks eventually won all remaining contests to become known as “King of the Outlaws” by his AAA zone representative.

The Henry Street Settlement opens a Youth Opportunity Hub on the Lower East Side with funding from Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance’s Criminal Justice Investment Initiative – which redistributes criminal forfeiture funds from settlements with international banks – as part of its Criminal Justice Investment Initiative.
