Henry Curtis VC

Henry Curtis VC is an emergency medicine specialist based out of San Francisco, CA who works closely with Los Robles Regional Medical Center and St Mary’s Medical Center, accepting multiple insurance plans.

In 1907, he organized a playground exhibit at Virginia’s Jamestown Exposition to demonstrate a revolutionary idea in American culture at that time: playgrounds led by older adults serving as leaders to children playing.

Professional Career

Curtis finds energy policy fascinating; most would find its inside baseball distastingful but it exhilarates him. He stays up late reading regulatory filings and drafting legal motions as an integral part of his job at Life of the Land, an environmental and community action group.

He is often present at Public Utilities Commission regulatory proceedings and regularly intervenes as an expert witness, testifying or providing public comments. Additionally, he has assisted Life of the Land in appealing several of their decisions at PUC.

He and Brady do not receive health care, retirement accounts or paid sick leave and operate the organization with funds provided mainly from community donations; nevertheless they seem content living an almost spartan lifestyle; indulging their passion for rodeo by attending various rodeo events throughout the summer season.

Achievement and Honors

Curtis Henry earned undergraduate degrees in Molecular Biology and Chemistry at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University before enrolling in Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s graduate program. At Wake Forest he focused on understanding how cytokines regulate CD8+ T-cell mediated protective immunity as a postdoctoral fellow and Research Instructor before moving onto Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus where his research continues today as part of postdoctoral fellow training program.

He wrote several books for young readers, such as The Watsons Go to Birmingham–a Newbery Honor winner from 1996. This work follows a family from Northern America as they travel south while also exploring issues of racism.

Personal Life

Sarah Curtis Henry works closely with founder Vicky Tsai at Tatcha to lead marketing, creative, and e-commerce initiatives. Prior to Tatcha, Sarah served in global and North America-focused trade leadership roles across skincare, color cosmetics and fragrance brands at LVMH.

Henry is also an assistant professor at Emory University School of Medicine and an affiliate member of Winship Cancer Institute of Emory, conducting research that seeks to understand how chronic inflammation impacts hematopoiesis, immunity and leukemogenesis.

Henry will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews he left behind; unfortunately his mother and three sisters predeceased him. Henry’s memorial service will take place at St Mary’s Church in Waymart on October 24 from 9:30 am until 10:30 am with Mass following shortly thereafter. Visitation hours begin at 9:30 am until 10:30 am followed by Mass on this day.
