Create a store website

Shopify offers a large number of templates to design your site’s showcase – over 100 free and paid themes that are responsive to mobile devices. To select, click Online Store, then Themes on the left of the admin panel.

The entire collection of templates can be viewed here. When choosing, do not get hung up on colors and fonts, you can customize them. It is more important to pay attention to the functionality of the template, for example, the search bar that your site will need.

Evgen Sozansky, co-founder of Xtheta Consulting, a top Shopify partner in Ukraine, as part of the E-export School video course from Ukrposhta on creating a business on Shopify, recommends choosing the following templates:

  • Warehouse for $ 180 – for large catalogs;
  • Startup for $ 180 or free Narrative template for mono-grocery stores;
  • Motion and Impulse for $ 180, free Brooklyn – templates with the most flexible design and functionality.

If none of the themes work for you, you can download your own or hire a Shopify expert to do everything for you.

Creating collections

How can your customers find a product in your store without going through the entire catalog? Creating collections makes shopping a lot easier for your customers.

Collections are groups of products that belong to the same category. For example, you would place the T-shirts in a collection called Short Sleeve Shirts and add discounted items to the Sale collection. When your customers are looking for something in a specific category, they can opt for a collection instead of scrolling through your site endlessly.

To create a collection, go to the left sidebar menu, find Products and click Collections. As you can see, Shopify has already created a collection for you called Home Page. These are the featured products that your customers will see on your store’s home page. You want to add more collections than this, so click the blue Create Collection button.

You can create collections manually or automatically. It is much easier to automatically create collections, especially if you have a lot of products.

However, in order for Shopify to automatically generate collections, you must add a condition. Enter a specific tag, title or vendor that differentiates each product from the other.
