Jalen Ramsey, a tight end at the Los Angeles Rams, walked into Jalen’s high school just a few years ago. The high school is in Brentwood, about eight miles north of downtown Los Angeles. His two best friends are Van Jefferson, a former Ravenwood tight end, and Brycen Hopkins, a former Ensworth tight end. Both players attended Ensworth High School and were drafted in round 2.

Both were former football players and are now seniors. Ramsey and Elder played youth football together. Elder, who played for the Murfreesboro Blue Raiders, was ineligible for his sophomore season due to a fractured femur. Ricky Bowers, Ensworth coach, declined to comment on the transfer. Both players, however, have strong academic records and have a wealth of experience on the field.

He played football with his peers at Ensworth. After he graduated, he moved to Brentwood Academy, which is a private high school located in Nashville, Tennessee. Ramsey competed in track and football and broke the Tennessee state record in the long jump. Ramsey proved his talent and was signed by the University of Tennessee after proving it.
Florida State University
When asked why he chose Florida State over Southern Cal, Jalen Ramsey’s answer was a mixture of reasons. He chose the Seminoles after praying, and his family had just had a baby girl, so he wanted to be close to her. He chose the Seminoles for their football program’s close proximity to Nashville. After forming a friendship with Jimbo Fisher, head coach, and Ronald Darby, his defensive coordinator. His presence has helped the team’s defense as a whole. He is expected to test the NFL waters after this season, and is already looking like a first-round draft pick.

Ramsey’s impact upon the team’s defense is unquestionable, despite his poor start.
The former Tennessee prep star attended Brentwood Academy, Nashville, and was rated a five-star recruit. He was rated as the nation’s second-best cornerback prospect. At Florida State, he was named All-ACC honors in 2014 and 2015. Although his collegiate career lasted only two years, it was enough for the Seminoles to win the NCAA championship. He also had a remarkable track record, winning All-American honors in the long jump and 400m races.
In addition to his high school and college career, Ramsey had a strong academic record. In fact, he went to the same high school as Golden Tate, and the Los Angeles Rams traded up to the top spot to take him as the number one overall pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Ramsey with the fifth overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. A former NFL safety, Bernard Pollard helped train Ramsey for the scouting combine. Ramsey was selected by the Jaguars in the first round, one spot ahead of Rams quarterback Jared Goff. Many former coaches and teachers have been baffled by his off-the-field antics. After being drafted in the first round, Ramsey experienced a rough time in Jacksonville.

Originally from Smyrna, Tennessee, Jalen Ramsey played his high school football at Brentwood Academy. Since he was four years of age, he has dreamed of playing in the Super Bowl. It is not uncommon for athletes to play for attention, but for young Jalen Ramsey, that dream came true even before he graduated from high school. It is clear that he was born to be a football star and is now a member of the Los Angeles Rams.
Ramsey transferred to Florida State after sustaining a hip injury in the middle of his USC season. His state record long jump jump of 25 feet, 3 1/2 inches was set. Ramsey initially committed to USC but changed his mind after the national signing day. He cited the firing of former defensive backs coach Marvin Sanders and the hiring of Jeremy Pruitt as reasons for his change of heart. Despite this, Ramsey chose Florida State over all else.
In his first season as a pro, Ramsey played wide receiver and defensive back. As a rookie, he started all 16 games and recorded eighty-five tackles. He also had 14 pass deflections and two interceptions. Ramsey led the Rams’ to the AFC Championship in his second season. In his third season, he was ranked 20th in the NFL Top 100 Players list. After two seasons, he was named to the Pro Bowl and was voted as a team MVP.
While at Florida State University, Jalen Ramsey played a few years of college football and played track and field.
