JOB1 New Orleans provides job-search assistance as well as training services to the unemployed. The organization’s mission statement is to create a workforce that can compete and is ready to work. This is accomplished through services such as wage subsidies and training programs for employees. It also offers resources for employers, including job application assistance and interview spaces. Federal workforce programs fund the agency.
The program has graduated over 3,300 people to date. The Ochsner Health System is the program’s partner, providing externships and a pharmacy. The program resulted in over 90% of graduates being employed at the end. JOB1 and the partnership it formed are great examples of how these two organizations can work together to help people in the area get jobs.
