John Albin

John Albin, a Nebraska graduate and current General Counsel for the state Department of Labor, has been employed with that agency for 24 years – beginning as an administrative law judge in 1990.

He is also a newly-elected member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA). NASWA is an umbrella organization representing all 50 state workforce agencies that offer training, employment and career services as well as administer unemployment insurance and veteran reemployment programs.

Early Life and Education

John Albin’s early life was spent in a small town of western Indiana. He had an avid reading habit and never missed an opportunity to indulge his passion for literature.

He then attended Northern Indiana Normal School, where he demonstrated remarkable dedication in both penmanship and commercial education.

In 1917 Harrison and Allie Albin moved from Rochester, Haskell County to Spur with their children Lera, John, Annis, Neil, Ferrel and Julia Mae along for the ride.

They lived in Spur for several years before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1928. There they helped establish the townsite of Black Canyon (45 miles north of Phoenix) and taught school at Bumble Bee (a ghost town near Las Cruces, New Mexico).

Professional Career

John Albin has been making people smile since he was a young boy. As both a realtor and real estate developer, John has achieved great things along the way.

He has always been an ardent pro-life advocate and dedicated his life’s work to protect unborn children. This commitment was something he took pride in, even when ridiculed or under public pressure.

He was also a founding member of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies, an expansive organization representing all 50 states plus D.C. and U.S. territories that provides training, employment opportunities, career advice and business services; additionally it administers unemployment insurance and veteran reemployment programs.

John Albin has earned a distinguished list of accomplishments and honors throughout his life. He has been an active participant in numerous organizations, serving in various capacities for most of that time.

He has received numerous awards and scholarships throughout his life, such as the Lila Albin Award for Scientific Contributions to Indoor Air Quality.

He has also written children’s and young adult novels. Personal Life

Early in his life, he developed the desire to be a penman. With the support of a neighbor farmer, he borrowed money to attend The Zanerian Art College in Columbus with the support of their neighbor farmer.

He was an exemplary student and earned numerous awards. For many years, he practiced penmanship professionally, producing much outstanding work in this area of expertise.

No matter the challenges he faced in life, his enthusiasm and joy in teaching always shone through. His humility and open-hearted approach transformed thousands of lives for the better.

He was married to Sally Albin and they shared a happy and fulfilling life with their two daughters and grandbabies. When not working or traveling, the couple enjoyed going out for meals or taking road trips whenever possible. These hard workers devoted their time towards building an amazing family unit.
