John Alff

John Alff was a beloved husband and father to his three children, whom he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

David Alff’s The Wreckage of Intentions seeks to reframe project writing as an object of historical analysis. Early Life and Education

John Alff was born in Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania the son of Edward and Mary (Marlin) Alff. He graduated from Pennridge High School and went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from East Stroudsburg University.

He is the founder of Vesta Kitchen in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania and owns Vesta Barbecue catering business. With a passion for eating locally-grown foods, he stocks his pantry with ingredients that are readily available year round.

He was the beloved husband of Maria Palmisano and is survived by their children: Edward P. Alff, Jr. from Royersford; David J. Alff and his wife Lorraine from Doylestown Twp., PA; John E. Alff and Maria from Hilltown; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He enjoyed camping and fishing. A member of the “Frosted Mug Club” at Acme in Doylestown, he made many friends throughout his life.

Due to his passion for food, he opened Vesta BBQ in Phoenixville in 2018. What began as a small catering business quickly blossomed into an expansive catering operation; during the pandemic he even created his own line of barbecue sauces and hot sauces which are sold at Phoenixville Farmers Market today. Furthermore, he helps teach cooking classes there and advocates for local agriculture.
