John Dooner is a 7th generation Florida farmer. He grew up on his family’s shade tobacco farm in Gadsden County, and he now manages his father’s timber consulting business.

Dooner joined McCann-Erickson in 1984, working on the agency’s major accounts such as Coca-Cola. He quickly rose through the ranks to CEO in 1995.

Personal Life

Having been born and raised in Gadsden County, Florida, John Dooner has always been involved in the agricultural business. He grew up with a deep knowledge of his family’s rich shade tobacco heritage and the turpentine business that it supported.

He has been very active in Florida Farm Bureau, where he serves on the GCFB Board of Directors and as the District 2 Leadership Chair on the Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. He is also a member of the Florida Farm Bureau State Board of Directors and treasurer.

He recently re-entered the advertising business in 2011 when he formed DDCD Partners, a marketing communication consultancy. In 2019, he was inducted into the Advertising Hall of Fame.
