John was born on June 23, 1926 in Branchdale, Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Reilly Township High School, where he was a standout athlete in both basketball and baseball. He was also a member of the Army, where he served in Europe during World War Two. During his military service, he was a member of the Allied Liberation Forces which freed Dachau concentration camp prisoners. He was also a military police officer, guarding the war criminals during the Nuremberg Trials.

He was a devoted husband and father, but most importantly he was a grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a loving member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Frackville. He is survived by his wife, Olga Kosick of Frackville; her three children: John, Louis and Nicholas; six grandchildren; a brother; a sister; many nieces and nephews.

Kosick is a photographer and cinematographer. He has worked on Wildboyz, Nitro Circus and Rob and Big on MTV. He has also produced and directed a few music videos. He is currently working as a program manager at the Camden Coalition in Philadelphia. He has a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Stockton College.

When he isn’t busy with his day job, he enjoys spending time with his wife Staci on their remote property a mile and a half off the grid in Belize. She bakes her own bread in a clay oven that Pat built from the Bamboo River and grows most of their vegetables, fruits and spices on their land-locked oasis. They both love to take guests on adventures, trekking over waterfalls and hiking.
