John Martorana had always been an inquisitive child at heart. His knack for solving mysteries made him a gifted student who excelled both academically and athletically, earning himself an athletic scholarship to Rutgers University.

Despite his successes, he couldn’t escape the difficulties that beset him throughout childhood and young adulthood. Eventually, he entered a dropout recovery program and earned his high school diploma – though not without some setbacks along the way. A few years after that, an unexpected death forced his parents to move from Boston to Virginia; there he met Michelle – eventually leading them back home and starting a family together.

John Martorana is an experienced communicator with an impressive list of clients. He’s held various positions such as associate manager of stock ownership programs at AST StockPlan and benefits communications specialist at Bear Stearns, creating brochures, Powerpoint presentations and letters to describe plan details, conducting training seminars on plan-related subjects and participating in employee benefits enrollment fairs when necessary.

He has served in the federal government since 1997 and currently holds the positions of e-government administrator at OMB and board chair of the Technology Modernization Fund. In these roles, she oversees a $1 billion investment to accelerate federal agency IT modernization efforts while guaranteeing agencies have resources to fund multiple projects throughout their lifespans.

He was born in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and moved to Arizona after retiring from his career as a teacher. Survived by his sons John Ross and Thomas Martorana; as well as four grandchildren. A devout member of Christ Community Church in Tucson, Arizona, he passed away peacefully at age 95.
