John Mehalovich – A Man of Many Hats
On Wednesday, March 16, Orange County Sheriff’s Office sex crimes detectives arrested Windemere resident John Mehalovich. He was charged with possession of child pornography, video voyeurism and stalking.
Mehalovich was caught filming “upskirt videos” of women’s skirts at a local Publix supermarket on Sept. 12, 2021, a victim told investigators.
Early Life and Education
Early childhood education, or ECE, is an essential part of a child’s development. It covers birth through age eight and is critical for the emotional, social and physical development of children.
The United Nations (UN) identifies high-quality early childhood education as one of its Sustainable Development Goals, and UNESCO considers it a key indicator of national health, prosperity and social cohesion. The UN also stresses the importance of focusing on the development of critical cognitive skills such as language, numeracy, and literacy in this phase of life.
During her time at National, Alvarado taught courses that focused on the nature and tasks of early cognition as well as how to support active learning environments with family and staff members. She explains that this is particularly important because parents are the primary teachers of children in the first few years of their lives.
Professional Career
A man of many hats, John Mehalovich is currently living the high life in the Emerald City. He has an impressive philatelic collection and an impressive philanthropic pedigree. Among his accomplishments is a recent multi-million dollar gift for his wife, which has to be one of the most generous gifts any of us will ever receive. He is the proud holder of a myriad of awards and accolades, including the title of honorary officer of the local Boy Scouts of America chapter. He is also the proud holder of several well-behaved children and a dog that’s on his way out.
Personal Life
John Mehalovich was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially at the holidays. He also volunteered at local schools and the community center. He also served on the board of directors for the Des Moines Parks and Recreation Department.
A 56-year-old Windemere man was arrested Wednesday on charges of sex crimes, including video voyeurism and possession of child pornography. Deputies said the man filmed “upskirt videos” of women’s skirts at a Publix supermarket in Orange County on several occasions. He has also been accused of prowling, stalking and battery. He was released on bail and will be back in court next week. In addition to his criminal charges, he is facing a fine of $200. He was previously arrested in May of 2021 for prowling and video voyeurism.
