Magen Hall is a New Orleans vacation rental home. He was arrested in 2012 on prostitution charges and was being held in a correctional facility in New Orleans. Hall’s trial has been rescheduled a number of times. In fact, the most recent hearing was delayed several times due to Hurricane Ida. A trial is scheduled to begin on April 18th of 2022.
On February 28, 2019, an employee of the Empress Hotel in New Orleans discovered the body of 62-year-old businessman Patrick Murphy. Hall stabbed Murphy twice in the abdomen. The cleaner had to wait until February 28 to find the body. The victim was on a holiday in New Orleans, visiting from Philadelphia. Hall is currently in jail on a $750,000 bond. Whether or not Hall is guilty of the charges depends on the outcome of the trial.
Hall is also facing a separate charge of sexual battery after the Jan. 31 incident at the Orleans Parish Justice Center. During that incident, Hall allegedly held another inmate down and sexually assaulted the victim. Hall has been in prison since then, but has not yet been tried for Murphy’s death. His trial has been delayed due to hurricanes and a pandemic. Hall is currently being held on $750,000 bail while he awaits trial. He must appear before a judge.
Megan Hall pleaded guilty in Louisiana to manslaughter and robbery. In February 2019, Hall fatally stabbed Patrick Murphy, a jeweler. They met during Mardi Gras and he was later discovered dead. Megan Hall could spend up to ten more years in prison, according to her plea agreement. He will be sentenced March 30. He was visiting New Orleans.
