Mitosis

The process of cell division, known as mitosis, occurs only in eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells don’t have mitosis, and instead divide by binary fission. The process of mitosis varies among organisms. Animal cells undergo “open” mitosis, whereas fungi and prokaryotic cells undergo “closed” or asymmetric mitosis. Mitosis is the process of producing most human cells.
