Monday Night Football 2011

The upcoming season of Monday Night Football will feature a doubleheader on Sept. 12. The New England Patriots will face the Miami Dolphins, while the Oakland Raiders will take on Denver Broncos. A total of 17 prime-time games will air during the season. ESPN’s MNF lineup will include all 12 playoff teams, as well as the Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers as well as the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers.

The original slate of SNF featured eight games, which is the most number of games in the history of the show. In addition, the season began with a rematch between the Tennessee Titans and the Indianapolis Colts. The rematches were scheduled after the teams met in the 2009 AFC Wild Card playoffs. In addition to the NFL regular season games, the season also featured several post-season rematches, including the Steelers hosting the 8-3 Los Angeles Chargers, which made their first appearance since 2014.

Week one will feature a number of games that are worth watching. The Green Bay Packers will face the Minnesota Vikings, who have been playing on Monday Night Football for 19 year. For the third time in four seasons, the two teams will meet in less than a month. The Packers have a 51-48-1 series advantage over the Vikings and 14 of the 16 regular season games have been decided by seven or less points.

On Sunday night, there will be three other games in addition to the Jets-Cincinnati Bengals match. Originally, the game was scheduled for CBS at 4:15 p.m. Eastern. This was an important game with playoff implications for both teams. Additionally, this would be the final game played in Giants Stadium before the season’s playoffs. If the Jets had won the game, they would have hosted the AFC Championship Game.

NBC has also acquired the rights to Super Bowl LII. As part of a flexible schedule, which allows for the NFL to move games, the team will be able show that game on its network. This schedule was not finalized until Week 17 when the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Vikings were playing consecutively on Sunday nights. In fact, the Vikings will be playing on their next Sunday night. However, this is not the end.

The opening credits were also cut, as in previous years. This year’s intro did not have the opening credits and featured a special video essay narrated by Branford Marsalis. The show was also kicked off by an impromptu Visit California commercial. Carrie Underwood made a guest appearance in the Thanksgiving Night intro commercial. Aside from the impromptu commercial, Halle Berry and Brian Urlacher performed an original song, “Before He Cheats,” parodying the hit song by the same name.

Monday Night Football coverage by NBC begins at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. The pre-game show airs from 7 p.m. Eastern Time and lasts until the game starts. It serves the same purpose as the NFL’s NFL Primetime – to provide previews and recaps of early action. The pre-game show is produced by NBC Sports studios in Connecticut. Jac Collinsworth, Rodney Harrison, and Maria Taylor will report from the game site.
