New Balance 57/40 Sneaker Review

The original 574 was an interesting hybrid road/trail design for its time, but it wasn’t a visible relic. The 57/40 answers this question with a more simple design. Its name is a reflection of the simple but profound question it answers. The original 574 was a unique hybrid road/trail design that was not obvious. What is the difference between a 55/40 and a 574?

The New Balance 57/40 features a Velocity Red and dusty Cliff Grey uppers with a variety blue shades. The shoe’s tongue is marked with “The Intelligent Choice”, and it is available in a variety of colors. The ‘The Intelligent Choice’ collection will release more styles, each showcasing a different combination of materials and colors. The 57/40 is expected to be available sometime in 2022, but there is no official release date.

A retro-inspired sneaker, the 57/40 is an homage to the classic 574, which was first introduced in 1988. The upper is comfortable but the materials are often disappointing. The cushion is also dated and uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time. At around $80, you can expect the 57/40 to be an affordable option for a sneakerhead. This shoe isn’t as expensive as the 574, but it does have a retro-inspired aesthetic.

The 574 sneaker gets a modern, fresh makeover with the 57/40. Drawing from 90’s and ’80s fashion, this sneaker boasts an undefinable style. The shoe has a sleek running silhouette and a layered suede-mesh upper. The shoe is cushioned underfoot and has a solid outsole. This shoe is great for everyday wear.

The 57/40 will be available in select New Balance stores on May 21. This sneaker retails for $120. The sneaker is available in many colors, so keep your eyes open for them.
