Canvas is a flexible learning platform used by New Caney ISD, a public school district in Montgomery County, Texas. It allows students to take courses in person or remotely. This innovative program is offered by the district in partnership with Google, Active Directory, Clever Badges, and Clever Badges. The district also has created a Canvas Parent account for parents. After creating an account, parents can connect to their student’s courses on Canvas.
Canvas will be used to deliver curriculum for students in pre-K to Grade 12. While students can access lessons at their own pace and interact with teachers online, they will still be able to interact with them on a regular basis. The district will use a grading policy and the Canvas learning management system to provide a high quality virtual experience for students in every grade. All instruction will be aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills and utilize district-provided, high-quality remote learning resources.
