In addition to the regular season, the league also holds preseason exhibition games, called the American Bowl, outside the United States. The only American Bowl game of 1988 was held in London’s Wembley Stadium. The NFL also held two Thanksgiving-day matches. The Detroit Lions faced Dallas at Detroit and the Dallas Cowboys faced Houston. Both were won by the Vikings. Two Thanksgiving-day games were also held in 1988. The AFC saw Cincinnati win the AFC East, beating the Buffalo Bills who had the same record.
