Movies

The month of October has been a busy one for the movie industry. There have been a lot of new releases and some amazing news stories about what Hollywood’s biggest stars are up to. In this blog post, we will look at six stories from October that you won’t want to miss!

1. Disney changed their logo again because of Pixar.

This month alone Disney has made three changes to their iconic mouse house logo, but they have assured fans that it won’t happen again anytime soon. The story goes like this: the Disney logo is getting a Pixar makeover. In October, they changed their most famous logo to celebrate the release of Pixar’s new movie Coco. Then in November, they dropped another update with a Halloween theme to celebrate the release of Nightmare Before Christmas on Netflix! And now in December, we have our final logo change for this year– this time it is a Christmas-themed logo to honor the launch of Frozen 2 on December 22nd! As long as no more changes pop up between now and then, fans can move on from this crazy month.

2. Meryl Streep totally crossed A Star Is Born off her Bucket List!

In an interview with InStyle Magazine, actress Meryl Streep has admitted that she really wants to appear in A Star Is Born, but hasn’t had the chance. She said, “I’d love to be in it. I’m hoping they’ll call me.” It turns out all Streep needed was the time now at age 70 she has actually BEEN cast as the lead singer of an iconic rock band! Her role is named “Judy” and although details are limited, we know that Bradley Cooper plays her love interest. This movie is sure to be filled with amazing music, so make sure you stay tuned for its release on October 5th!

3. Disney’s live-action version of The Lion King might have a Release Date after all.

A couple of months ago some movie news broke that Disney is planning to make a live-action version of The Lion King. Well, we still don’t know much about this movie, but we do know that it has been confirmed for an August 19th release in 2019! This date was never 100% clear because the fact that it’s just listed as “2019” leaves room for debate. However, it looks like director Jon Favreau has cleared things up by listing the official release date on his Twitter account. This will be one of many live versions of our favorite childhood movies, so hopefully, they are all good!

4. Oceans 8 came out… and no one saw it.

We have some terrible news if you were excited to see this movie– apparently Hollywood didn’t care to make it either. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Oceans 8 will open to an estimated $41.5 million, the lowest opening gross in the Ocean’s franchise since 2003! They are hoping that positive reviews can save this movie to have a long run at the box office, but it hasn’t been doing so well so far. Only time will tell if this spinoff series will continue to dive into theaters or sink down under!

5. Some brand new trailers dropped this week.

One of the biggest trailers that dropped this week was for Mission Impossible- Fallout– it’s a sequel to Rogue Nation and has all of our favorite characters back with updated gadgets yet again. This time around Tom Cruise recruits Henry Cavill, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby to save the world from nuclear disaster. It looks like it will be another crazy spy film series! The release date is July 27th. If that isn’t enough for you, check out some other trailers here: Blackkklansman, Boy Erased, and The House With a Clock In Its Walls.

6. There is another new cover for this year’s People Magazine: Celebrity 100 List.

For the last two years, we have gotten to see some great covers from People featuring everyone’s favorite celebs, including Donald Glover, Gal Gadot, Beyonce Knowles-Carter, and Chrissy Teigen. This year we got our first glimpse at how huge Hollywood got in 2018– there are over 30 stars on this double issue, and they even had to add an extra page just to fit them all! Make sure you check out the full list here by clicking on any of their faces included in the collage above.
