Rashawn Slater and Zack Martin in the 2014 NFL Draft

If the Dallas Cowboys are going to draft a running back this year, they should look at Rashawn Slater and Zack Martin. Martin is a six-time Pro Bowler, has earned a spot on the NFL’s All-Decade team, and is likely to become the most decorated running back in franchise history. He is also a near-shoo-in for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Zack Martin was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys as the 16th overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. Martin was a standout player on the Notre Dame offensive line and was a regular for four years. He was extremely agile off the line and exhibited good balance, which helped him to stay upright. His strength and size made him a formidable opponent for pass-rushers. Zack Martin is a hard worker and can drive to the second block level.

In addition to his size, Martin has excellent ball skills. His high-percentage athleticism should translate into good numbers in the NFL. While Martin did not earn All-Pro honors in his senior season, he has played in the NFL for the last two seasons. After Travis Frederick retires, Martin will be the NFL’s best offensive lineman. ITS believes Martin is worth the investment to the Cowboys.

Martin is considered to be the top offensive lineman in the 2014 Senior Bowl. He was the leader of the Irish offensive line, allowing only eight sacks in the year he played. This was the second-lowest number of sacks in the Football Bowl Subdivision. His play earned him All-American recognition from one publication. The Cowboys made the right decision to draft Martin. There are many reasons to be optimistic about Martin’s draft in the NFL.
