What is Sodium Olivate?
Soap making requires sodium hydroxide to transform oils into soap, with any leftover residue used as raw material for many of our soap ingredients. One such raw material is sodium olivate derived from Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil.
Distilled Water, sodium olivate and cocoate are blended together with goat milk to form goat milk soap. Potassium Hydroxide, sodium borate and essential and fragrance oils provide extra fragrance enhancement, along with anhydrous Lanolin for anhydrous Lanolin application.
Early Life and Education
Soap is an amalgamation of fats and oils which are saponified using sodium hydroxide to form soap. Each soap is given its name based on which oil or fat was used: olive oil becomes sodium olivate; tallow becomes sodium tallowate; coconut oil receives the moniker “sodium cocoate”.
Sodium olivate is the sodium salt of olive oil’s fatty acids and contains unsaponifiables known to soften all skin types. Furthermore, this non-ionic emulsifier serves as an effective cleansing agent.
Studies have proven it to be non-irritant, hypoallergenic and safe for use on all skin types. When administered orally to F344 rats at 5% dose rate, no liver and thymus weight increases or tumor formation occurred. Vitamin E is an essential nutrient and provides numerous skin health benefits.
Professional Career
Sodium Olivate is an integral ingredient of many cosmetic products, providing gentle yet effective cleansing agents to remove dirt, oil, and impurities without drying or irritating skin or hair. Furthermore, it boasts emulsifying properties and contributes to viscosity control within formulations.
Sodium olivate can be found in numerous skin and hair care products, including cleansers, moisturizers, and shampoos. Although generally well tolerated by most individuals, Sodium olivate may cause irritation or itching in some due to individual sensitivities or allergies; so patch testing any new cosmetic products containing this ingredient before use is strongly advised – regular usage can reduce potential negative side effects; plus its vegan status makes it suitable for people living vegetarian/vegan lifestyles.
Personal Life
People often struggle to comprehend what sodium olivate is; many assume it must be dangerous in some way such as chemical burns or toxic fumes; but that is not the case at all. Instead, sodium olivate is simply an organic compound produced from salt that provides many essential benefits that make life better for us all.
Sodium olivate is an ingredient commonly found in soap. As its name implies, this saponified form of olive oil found in soap and shampoo products provides moisturization benefits without harming skin or scalp health.
