Who is Steve Helm?

Helm was an exemplary two-sport athlete at Carroll, competing in basketball and track and field. A conference champion for both sports, he qualified for national tournaments both times he participated.

He served as head men’s coach at Ancilla College for six years and currently acts as an assistant women’s coach at Calumet College. Additionally, he practices law focusing on eminent domain cases for private property owners as well as representing various governmental entities.

Early Life and Education

Helm was recognized with third team all-American and Frontier Conference MVP honors while playing at Montana State University-Northern. Additionally, he served as head coach at McCutcheon High School for one season.

After spending some time performing in New Orleans theatre productions, Helm turned her focus towards television work. Her first television role came as part of an episode of The Fugitive in 1964; since then she has appeared on shows such as Hawaii Five-O and Rawhide.

After The Band disbanded, Helm toured with other artists and recorded his solo album. He played Loretta Lynn’s father in Coal Miner’s Daughter as well as making appearances in films including Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada and End of the Line. Additionally he performed on syndicated western show The DuPont Show as well as one episode of CBS’s Burke’s Law series.

Professional Career

Helm had previously served as a licensed behavioral therapist for children with disabilities; however, this career wasn’t an appropriate fit with his people skills and so decided to explore real estate as an option.

At 35 years old, Mr. Wilson boasts an outstanding resume in commercial and private real estate investing, development, finance, and financing. Currently he heads both HS Development Group and New Regional Planning (NRP), managing properties with a market value exceeding $175 Million including Class A suburban office properties as well as multifamily dwellings.

He is also the author of multiple books on leadership and personal growth, as well as hosting an extremely popular podcast titled “Reddy at the Helm”, where he explores stories from leading marketers and founders.

Achievement and Honors

At Arizona State, Dr. Alexander serves as Lincoln Professor of Neural Engineering Research and Ethics. His neuroprosthetic research seeks to understand how sensory information from various sources affects movement. His studies involve both human subjects and nonhuman primates; his efforts have earned numerous awards such as Cleburne High School’s Distinguished Alumni Award.

He excelled on both basketball and track teams at Carroll College, averaging 6.3 points per game on basketball while scoring double figures on 10 occasions. On track he helped propel Carroll College’s 4x400m relay squad to sixth-place at outdoor nationals for 4x400m relay racing.

He served for six years as the men’s basketball coach at Ancilla College in Plymouth, Indiana. While at Ancilla he led their Chargers to their inaugural MCCAA conference tournament victory and produced one Coca-Cola All-American, three distinguished All-Americans and five Academic All-Americans.

Personal Life

Helm was an avid sports fan who competed in basketball at Northern Idaho College and the University of Montana, before later practicing periodontics in Bozeman. Together with his wife Colleen he enjoyed road and mountain biking, hiking with their two German Shepherds and both telemark and alpine skiing.

After The Band’s farewell concert documented in The Last Waltz film and live album, Helm released several solo albums including a reissue of Music from Big Pink featuring backing by Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. He also appeared in various films such as Coal Miner’s Daughter.

Helms Tillery currently works at Arizona State University as a neuroscientist where he studies how sensory information influences movement, with specialization in using neuroprosthetics to study how our brain learns skilled motor tasks.

Net Worth

Helm has amassed his fortune through his professional musical career and role as drummer for The Band. Additionally, he has appeared in several dramatic films as an actor or as Loretta Lynn’s father in Coal Miner’s Daughter (1980) or U.S. Air Force test pilot and engineer Capt. Jack Ridley in 1983’s The Right Stuff (dir. James Cameron).

Helm released his first solo album since 1982 titled Dirt Farmer in 2007. This record featured traditional songs he remembered from his youth mixed in with modern compositions drawn from similar historical sources.
