Aside From a Successful Academic Career, Steven Forman Has Contributed to Numerous Architectural Projects

Steven Forman has also had an illustrious academic career. Outside the classroom, his architectural projects have included public libraries, academic libraries, museums and multi-use educational facilities. Notable examples are the Allen County Public Library in Allentown and George E. Bello Center for Information and Technology at SUNY Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh New York – projects completed under his supervision.

He currently serves on the Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology panel of the Geological Society of America, conducting research in climate change and Arctic paleoenvironments.

Early Life and Education

He lived and served in Philadelphia before joining the Army. While serving, he witnessed anti-Semitism and racism among civilians as well as soldiers; these experiences inspired him to make change within society; using his GI Bill benefits, he went back to college where he obtained a master’s degree in history and education.

Later he moved to Maxwell, California and began teaching junior high school there for 35 years, with Esther Sofia Costales becoming his wife. Together they had two children.

He and his wife are avid art collectors, having donated to several Philadelphia institutions like Drexel University and the Barnes Foundation. Steven also gives lectures to teachers and large student bodies on paleoclimatology and climate change; currently working on his fourth book.

Professional Career

In the ring, Foreman was an intimidating presence. His brute strength allowed him to quickly knock down opponents quickly and effortlessly – leading him to an impressive 37-fight win streak!

On October 30, 1974 in Kinshasa, Zaire, Foreman challenged Muhammad Ali for his world heavyweight title in what became known as the “Rumble in the Jungle.” The event far exceeded all expectations and made history.

Foreman made his next title defense against Axel Schulz and won by 12-round split decision; following this fight he claimed a religious conversion experience and announced his retirement.

In 1999, Foreman attempted a comeback by challenging journeyman Larry Holmes on pay-per-view. But Foreman pulled out before the fight took place, saying that at 55 he had reached his end as an active fighter. Later he would appear on reality TV shows such as Better Late Than Never which featured him touring around with other celebrities.

Achievement and Honors

Forman was recently honored with the DGA Lifetime Achievement Award, an accolade given to directors who have made notable contributions throughout their filmmaking careers, such as Cecil B. DeMille, Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles Martin Scorsese and Stanley Kubrick – among many others.

He has presented at numerous teacher conferences and workshops as well as lectured to large school groups of elementary and middle school students. His areas of research interest include paleoclimatology, climate change, Arctic paleoenvironments and extreme weather events.

Steve has an avid dedication and hunger for making communities better for children, particularly when it comes to educational initiatives. His exceptional ability is connecting with stakeholders from various fields in order to obtain funding and support for local programs; furthermore he exhibits strong leadership abilities which empower community organizations in prioritizing children and families as their focus areas.

Personal Life

Longtime resident of Zanesville, Ohio, Forman demonstrates a deep dedication and passion for making it the best it can be. His strong leadership abilities have assisted many local organizations focusing on children and families by helping secure/retain much-needed funding sources. Forman serves on several boards including United Way Board of Directors; Muskingum County Literacy Council Board; hospital Advisory Board.

Steve Forman pioneered an unconventional definition of film music percussion by mixing ethnic acoustic instruments with digital samplers during real-time film scoring sessions to produce textural sound design concepts for picture soundtracks. Additionally, he lectured extensively to teachers and students regarding paleoclimatology, climate change and Arctic prehistoric environments.
