Early Life and Education

Steven McWhirter is a Grammy and Stellar award-nominated recording artist and worship leader who stands as an inspirational testimony of radical restoration. Beginning as a meth addict himself, in his deepest depths of addiction he came face-to-face with God who calls us out from grave clothes into resurrection life.

Steven first began drumming at age 10 under the guidance of his father Dessie, taking lessons with Adrian Hoy until 2008. Steven later joined Cullybackey Pipe Band and continued learning snare drum lessons until 2008.

The name Steven is an English surname derived from Stephen, the Greek form of Saint Stephen in the Bible who symbolized “crown” or “wreath.” Notable individuals bearing this surname include Hollywood director Steven Spielberg and King Edward IV of England.

Professional Career

McWhirter has spent much of his professional career at Procter & Gamble working in product supply manufacturing and human resources roles, using engineering skills learned to develop leadership at a national level. He currently holds the position of Director of Global Employee & Labor Relations within the company.

McWhirter has earned numerous World Drumming Championship titles both as a soloist and with bands. Perhaps his most acclaimed accomplishment may have been Inveraray & District Pipe Band’s YouTube post of their wild celebrations after they earned promotion to Grade 2.

McWhirter is also an accomplished singer-songwriter published with Essential Music Publishing/Sony PLG and signed to Lula Street (Integrity Music). As one of the founding members of Iron Bell Music worship collective, his testimony of divine deliverance from addiction serves as the cornerstone for his ministry platform.

Achievement and Honors

Steven began drumming at age 10, beginning lessons with Cullybackey Pipe Band near Dublin where he won several Juvenile Section One competitions. From 2002 – 2008 he joined Simon Fraser University Pipe Band in Vancouver where he twice took home World Championship titles both solo and as part of a band!

Worship leader and songwriter Stephen McWhirter and Grammy and Stellar Award nominated recording artist Jason Clayborn have come together to create Highest Praise (2021). Featuring eight selections written collaboratively by them both – such as their infectious Stevie Wonder-meets-Humble Pie groove of “Highest Praise,” this joyful worship anthem bridges cultural and musical boundaries in unification of worship; other standout tracks include Motown slow burner that holds tight to God even during trying circumstances and modern worship declaration of unwavering faith in His promises!

Personal Life

Stephen McWhirter is an internationally touring worship leader, producer and speaker who draws strength from his testimony of divine deliverance from addiction as the cornerstone of his ministry platform.

Steven first began drumming in 1993, initially receiving instruction from both Dessie and Adrian Hoy. Soon thereafter he found success quickly advancing, winning World Juvenile Section One twice! Additionally he is an instructor for Edinburgh Academy Pipe Bands as well as Dollar Academy Pipe Bands; additionally he serves as lead drummer of Inveraray & District Pipe Band.

J. Reid Maxwell approached Steven and invited him to join the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band of Vancouver, Canada. Between 2002 and 2008 he would travel regularly from Northern Ireland in order to compete, teach and perform with them.

Net Worth

Kent and Cynthia are proud parents to two beautiful daughters: Kristen has appeared in several television shows and plays, while Megan is a talented actress herself. Additionally, Michael completes the family. All live in Los Angeles.

Clayborn and McWhirter aim to emulate Revelations 7 in order to unify their church under one banner of praise to glorify the Triune God at his throne – something many churches today struggle with due to division between sectarianism, tribalism, fanatical tribalism and tribal nationalism. That would be truly incredible to witness!
