Steven Petrie serves as Chief Operating Officer of Foley & Lardner. Having joined from White & Case where he held the same role, Steven oversees all business operations that support Foley & Lardner’s strategic plan while leading an international team devoted to innovation and collaboration.

He possesses extensive clinical experience treating children, adolescents, and families; with expertise in treating attention deficit disorder (ADD) and depression among adolescents. Working collaboratively with patients to set treatment goals that capitalize on their strengths.

He has performed on stages throughout the country, such as Shakespeare’s Troilus and Cressida and Henrik Ibsen’s Brand alongside Ralph Fiennes at the RSC. Additionally, he can be seen on television as Geoff in Channel 4’s Utopia as well as Alexander “Sandy” Langbourne from The Night Manager.

Petrie studied abroad on environmental grants in Kenya and Costa Rica as an undergraduate, was selected as a Grinnell-in-Nanjing Fellow, teaching English at Nanjing University’s partner college and even received environmental grants to travel the globe as a Grinnell-in-Nanjing Fellow.

Since 1999, he has been active in international development work, from photojournalist coverage of Zambezi River flood recovery efforts to program manager for Peace Corps response in Panama. Currently living in North Carolina and wrapping up as field office support staff with Peace Corps Panama; providing advice to 10-15 volunteers regarding everything from agriculture to government cyber cafes.

He earned his master of business administration from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management. Known for directing grounded human dramas that deal with taboo subject matter.
