The Allen 8 theater opened in Farmington, New Mexico earlier than planned on April 29. The cinema is owned by Allen Entertainment Company, which also owns Animas 10, in Animas Valley Mall. The company had originally planned to open the Allen 8 around Memorial Day weekend. The company was forced to change the date due to state-imposed changes. The Allen 8 was able to open earlier because San Juan County went from a Yellow level to a Green on April 28.
The Allen 8 theater at the intersection of Route 66/Interstate 40 was scheduled to reopen on May 7. Management plans to hire several of the laid-off employees. However, this may be a difficult task, as state restrictions are discouraging workers from returning to work.
