The Former Miami Dolphins Quarterback Starred in Many Movies

Did you know that the former Miami Dolphins quarterback also starred in several movies? Bob Griese was a 6-1, 190-pound quarterback who led the team to nine consecutive winning seasons in the 1970s. His ball-control offense allowed Griese to run and throw the ball sparingly but when it was time for a play, he would choose an aerial. As a result, he earned the title of ‘The Godfather’ for his efforts.

Tannehill was a four-year letterman at Texas A&M. He was a two-year starter at Texas A&M and appeared in 50 games with 25 starts. In those years, he completed 484 of 774 passes for 5,450 yards and 42 touchdowns while hauling in 112 receptions for 1,596 yards and ten touchdowns. He also rushed for 369 yards and five touchdowns. He enjoyed playing with one team, despite his success as a quarterback.

Following the end of the Griese era, David Woodley was named the starter for the Dolphins. He continued the team’s success, making the playoffs in 1982 and 1981. The Miami Dolphins’ fourth trip to the Super Bowl in 1981 ended in a loss to the Washington Redskins. Woodley was replaced by Dan Marino in 1983 after failing to reach the Super Bowl. Woodley is known as the transition quarterback between Griese and Marino.
