The Kromfohrlander

The Kromfohrlander, a German dog breed that was developed in the early 1900s, is a relatively new breed. Ilse Schleifenbaum was the first breeder of the Wire-haired Fox Terrier and the Grand Griffon Vendeen. This combination produced puppies that were later bred to Griffons and Terriers. Today, the Kromfohrlander belongs to FCI groups nine and ten and is part of the section ten.

The Kromfohrlander can be trained quickly and easily. It is friendly and eager to please its master. It is intelligent and highly obedient, but can also be sensitive to punishment. The dog should not be punished harshly. Make training short and gentle, and never allow him to remain alone for too long. A Kromfohrlander’s life expectancy is thirteen to fifteen years.

The Kromfohrlander is a companion dog and a great family pet, even though it lacks a hunting instinct. The Kromfohrlander is friendly and loving, and does not show aggressive tendencies when introduced to new people. As long as you keep the environment calm, it will not mind meeting other dogs and children. However, this breed may not be the best choice for those who want a solitary dog.

The Kromfohrlander can be described as a medium-sized dog with medium hair. The wire-haired breed is similar to a terrier, while the smooth-haired one is more like a spaniel. Both coat types are long and dense and show a rich coat of white and brown markings. The Kromfohrlander is a lively, athletic dog with an inclination towards people. They are friendly with their owners and shed very little.
