The mX News net, an Australian daily newspaper, was launched on July 4, 2005. Its initial launch coincided with the Sydney City Council considering a lease for footpaths to be used by the news company. The lease would require other free daily newspapers to pay News Corporation for their use of the same location. This has raised concerns among other newspapers that have a history paying for their locations. The mX was thinner and aimed at commuters.
Movie reviews used to appear on flicks, but they were removed in 2011 because of the lack of space for session time listings. Movie reviews are no longer on the site, but the company has reorganized their entertainment section to focus on popular music. Entertainment news is covered by Goss & Glam. This magazine-style entertainment section appears every Thursday. Quickie also features a quick interview with entertainment stars.
