The New Idea Manure Spreader

New Idea manure spreader is a well-known agricultural equipment company known for its orange and sand manure spreaders. The company’s founders came up with the idea after observing a farmer spread tom ball. They believed that manure should be spread in a similar manner. Ultimately, they founded the company and sold the first machines to neighbors and friends.

Joseph Oppenheim and BC Oppenheim, their son, started building manure spreaders at Maria Stein, Ohio in 1899. They built a machine resembling a farm wagon and fashioned the blades to be at an angle. They sold the first six spreaders to local farmers, using farm wagons. The spreaders’ popularity grew and word spread about “Oppenheim’s New Idea” spread to other farmers.
