The Party Schnauzer is a registered breed of dog. They are recognized as such by the American Kennel Club, or AKC. The breed was first recognized in Germany in the early 1900s. They were not registered in confirmation, however. This is because the AKC failed to fully register them. The breed has been recognized in Germany since then, and is often called the “Parti Schnauzer.”
This small breed likes to be in the center of the action, and is highly energetic with plenty of terrier spunkiness. Though the Miniature Schnauzer is small, he has no idea he’s small. He can talk trash to other larger dogs and get into mischief, but he’s not as delicate as a large schnauzer. You’ll want to choose a Miniature Schnauzer if you’re looking for a fun, lovable companion for a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion.
Salt/Pepper Schnauzers are generally darker than their Liver/Pepper counterparts. The latter are marked with white or silver gray patches in the earlobes, mouth, and nose. The Salt/Pepper Schnauzer has a black mask and a black muzzle. Salt/Pepper Schnauzers also have banded hairs and a white or silver gray muzzle.
The original Parti Miniature Schnauzers were registered in Germany in 1880. In the 1930s, this breed was considered unsuitable by the German Pinscher Schnauzer Club PSK. The German Pinscher Schnauzer Club PSK banned the breed in 1933, believing it looked too much like a Wire Hair Fox Terrier, which would prevent them from selling Salt & Pepper puppies.
A parti colored Schnauzer can inherit the same genes that cause white dogs to fade. The characteristic patches of pigmented skin over a pink base can make this dog quite ugly. However, the characteristic patches of pigmentation are not enough to distinguish the Party Schnauzer from any other dog. The breed is also recognized as a purebred by the AKC. The AKC recognizes the color variation between the two.
Unlike their companion Miniature Schnauzers, these little dogs are also known as tan-liver, platinum, silver, and white. There are also rare black and white schnauzers. AKC recognizes solid black, salt & pepper, and black & silver parti colors. AKC recognizes these colors as well. These little dogs are extremely playful and adorable.
