Tim Berners-Lee is an English computer scientist, best known for the inventor of the World Wide Web. In March 1989 he submitted a proposal for an information management system and implemented the first successful communication between a Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) client and server over the Internet in mid-November of the same year. In 1990 he also developed the first web browser software.
In 2004 he was awarded chivalry by Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the Millennium Technology Prize (€ 1 million) from the Finnish Technology Award Foundation.
