1. Use Conditioner

From curly hair to dry hair, it is vital to use a good conditioner. We aren’t talking about slapping on a cheap conditioner and rinsing it out fast, either.

Use a deep conditioner that will add moisture and strength (protein) back into your hair. The best way to deep condition is to either apply a conditioner and then let it sit while you continue to shower, or by covering it with a plastic cap and letting it sit overnight before rinsing the next morning.

Also, where you apply the conditioner is important too. Focus on the mid-length to the ends, not the scalp. If you put too much conditioner near the scalp, you’ll soon find your hair turning greasy fast.

2. Change Your Part

Looking for an easy way to change up your do without doling out money? Then change where your part is!

Changing where the part in your hair is can have a drastic impact on the style. It can also help to add a fuller look to the style. Switch your part to the opposite side and you’ll notice your roots have an instant lift. If you’re hesitant to mess around too much, look into using a virtual hair makeover tool to see what the style would look like in advance.

3. Try a New Color

Sometimes all you need to do is add in a few highlights or do a complete hair color makeover to get a refreshing new style.

If you’re bored with your current look and think you’d like to try a new color out, make an appointment at a professional salon. While it’s true that most major retail stores sell box dyes, if you aren’t sure of what you’re doing, the results can be disastrous. Avoid any mishaps with your hair by letting an expert handle the dying for you.

4. A Good Haircut

The fact is you should get regular haircuts to remove dead ends. It can also help to make your hair appear more full of life and thicker.

If your hair is flat and you’d like to see more bounce, look into getting face-framing layers that are short. This will help boost volume.

Have thick hair? Then a longer hairstyle will suit you that has layers to help cut back the density. Whatever you do, try to avoid a shoulder-length cut as it can look too boxy or chunky if the hair is thick.

If you think you’re ready to take the plunge and change up your entire hairstyle, look into a hair salon makeover online. Also, if you’re struggling with pesky eyebrows or facial hair, don’t forget that many places offer laser hair removal. You can look here to learn more about that!

5. Use the Right Styling Products

There is a multitude of styling products out there. Each of them all tailored to a specific purpose.

The one thing they will all have in common is that a little goes a long way. When using hair styling products, start off with a little and then add more as needed.

Hair gels are best suited to creating spikes on short hair, for slicking down hair that’s frizzy or defining curls. When you use hair gel, it will start off liquid-y, but then dry into a hard shell that’s shiny.

Hair mousse is a styling foam that’s great for giving you a voluminous look that’ll be crunch-free. For creams and serums, they are best suited for last-minute touch-ups. They can help heal damage, calm frizz down, and even add a shiny luster to your locks.

6. Know Your Hair Type

When it comes to styling, knowing your hair type is important.

Fine hair affords a few more options than thick. If you have fine hair, you can do messy ‘dos, as well as straighten or curl your locks with ease.

Thick hair is a bit of a different story. It often has considerable weight to it, so when you feel like it needs put up, try braids, a high bun, or side ponytails. On the bright side, you can use more styling products in thick hair, as it won’t get weighed down as fine hair would.

7. Try Teasing

Is your hair flat and lifeless? There’s a simple trick that can help boost volume fast for your hairstyle. It’s called teasing.

When teasing, do not start at the end and move the comb up and down. This will tangle the hair, not to mention the damage it.

Instead, get a fine-tooth comb and hold a section of hair at the crown area. Hold this section straight up. Then, start at the mid-shaft and push the comb down toward the roots. After that, pull the comb out and start over, repeating the process. To finish up, comb other hair over the teased section to get a voluminous lift.

8. Curls, Curls, Curls

Curling your hair is a fast way to change the look of your hairstyle. If you want tight curls, use a curling iron with a barrel that’s about 1 1/2 inches. If you want larger, looser curls, then look for a barrel with a larger size.

Remember that fine hair doesn’t need much heat to curl. If your hair is thicker and coarser, then it’ll need heat applied a bit longer. For fine hair, stick to a heat setting of around 6, while you can use a heat setting of 8 for thicker hair.

  1. You made a good point that one’s hair type is a very crucial factor when it comes to planning a makeover. I’m considering to go to a hair salon soon because my hair has grown so long due to not being able to get it trimmed throughout the lockdowns of 2020 and how I was still cautious to go outside for most of 2021. Maybe it’s time start easing myself into going out from time to time since I’m already vaccinated anyway.
